Norcross Christian
Academy is pleased to offer information concerning our
2007-2008 Academic Year. We are committed to using curriculum
that is not only challenging academically but also spiritually
uplifting. We place a focus on character building. High-quality
materials are provided in order to enhance your child's
learning experience. A hands-on approach is very important
at this age.

During each week, your child will experience learning
in the following areas:
Phonics/Reading/Spelling
Explode the Code (K-2)
Practice phonics using visual, kinesthetic and auditory
methods.
Vowel Friends Phonics(K)
This is a program that helps your child learn the vowels
in a fun and easy way. Vowel Friends introduces five
different character qualities along with learning about
the vowels.
ASCI Spelling Connections (1-4)
Students will explore/master high frequency words (most
commonly used words in the English language). The words
also follow common spelling practices.
Literature/Writing
Literature/Reading Success
We will discover an author and
use activities that help to make the books come to life.
Focus is on fluent readers who understand what they
read.
Handwriting without Tears - Manuscript/Cursive
A kid friendly curriculum using manipulatives to aid
in handwriting.
Journal Writing
Journal Writing is a part of their weekly schedule,
giving the learner time to reflect on his/her learning
experience
Math
Alpha Omega - Horizons
Basic math skills will be perfected through the curriculum.
This curriculum uses a building block approach. Skills
are introduced and are continually reviewed on a daily
basis. Hands-On approach using manipulative
Kid's Money Matters
This is a fun approach to spending, giving, and saving
with a Christian perspective.
Bible…
Daily Bible stories, Drama, Character traits, Memory
verses, Prayer, Praise songs, Hymns
Chapel ~ once a week
Art
Students will do painting, drawing and projects that
function with each unit of learning.
Computers…
Students have access to age-appropriate software in
the classroom.
Physical Education/Health/Safety…
We have PE two days a week with a PE teacher. Games,
relays and specialized activities/exercises that are
age appropriate.
Music/Movement
We have two classes each week. Music programs are given
all throughout our year.
Science/Social Studies
ACSI program (Science)
~ provide experiments for kids to practice what they
have learned.
Abeka (Social Studies)
~provides a Christian view of history
Students will participate in hands-on science experiences
for each age level.
Social Studies skills follow along with our unit themes.
