Phase 1 – Discerning a Search Team
Deacon body to form Search Team

Phase 2 – Spiritual Foundations, Team Building, Preparing for the Task
Establish Search Team leadership, search process, and meeting schedule
Assign Prayer Support Team Liaison, and Communication Liaison
Develop Vision Statement (submit to Deacon body for review)

Phase 3 – Developing Prospectus and Job Description
Develop church Information Package with on Vision Statement (who we are, what we stand for, the needs of our church)
Develop Pastor Profile including Job Description
Develop Applicant Questionnaire

Phase 4 – Develop List of Potential Pastor Applicants
Review current inventory of resumes (previously submitted)
Contact referral sources for potential candidates
Develop a master list of Potential Pastor Applicants

Phase 5 – Shortlist Discernment
Contact Potential Pastor Applicants for preliminary screening (listen to sermons of Pastor applicants, screen resumes and select for Interviews)

Phase 6 – Discerning Most Suitable Applicants
Interview Selected Pastor Applicants
Select final Pastor Applicants
Visit Pastor Applicant churches

Phase 7 – Interviews (Pre-Candidating)
Interview References from final Pastor Applicants
Select and recommend final Pastor Candidate to Deacons

Phase 8 – Candidating
Deacons recommend Pastor Candidate to Congregation for approval
Coordinate w/ Deacons to introduce Pastor Candidate to Congregation
